discussion.win — Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-10-01
These terms are a plain-language agreement between you and the operator of discussion.win. By using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
The service
discussion.win is a chat service: public forum rooms, member-run servers with channels, and direct messages between mutual contacts. Some conversations can be end-to-end encrypted; the privacy policy explains exactly who can read what — including the metadata (timing, sizes, IP addresses) that is visible in every room, encrypted or not.
Your account
- You sign in with a Google account; we store that account's email address and the username you choose or are given.
- One account per person. Do not share your credentials or session.
- Usernames can be changed once every 30 days. Old profile links stop working after a rename.
- You are responsible for what happens through your account. If you think it was taken over, contact the operator immediately.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post. By posting, you give the operator the permission needed to store and deliver your content on the service — to show it to the people in that room, on their devices, for as long as the content exists on the service. That permission ends when the content is deleted. Nothing here transfers ownership of your content to the operator.
What you may not do
- Post anything unlawful in your jurisdiction, or content that exploits or endangers minors.
- Harass, threaten, or defame other people.
- Distribute malware, or attempt to break, overload, or probe the service or other users' accounts.
- Impersonate another person, or scrape the service in bulk.
Forum rooms (the global room, servers and their channels) pass an automated content filter and are moderated by the operator and by server owners: content that breaks these terms can be removed without notice. In end-to-end encrypted rooms the operator cannot read the content — moderation there is limited to removing a message by its position in the room and removing accounts.
Encrypted rooms and your keys
- In end-to-end encrypted conversations, your private keys never leave your devices — which also means we cannot recover them. Lose them and the conversation is unreadable; there is no reset we can perform for you.
- Private link rooms are only as secret as the link. Anyone holding the full link can read the room.
- Any member of an encrypted conversation can reset its key. Encrypted rooms rely on mutual trust between their members.
Availability, changes, and payment
The service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We aim to keep it running but do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we may add, change, or remove features. Some features may require payment in the future; the free service will keep its core chat features.
Suspension and termination
The operator may suspend or remove accounts and content that break these terms or the law. You may stop using the service at any time; contact the operator to request removal of your content or data, and we will do what is technically possible.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for content posted by users. The operator's total liability arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim — which, on the free tier, is nothing.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the "last updated" date above changes with it, and the service will tell you in-chat when a change is material. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Contact
The operator can be reached in the site's global room at discussion.win.
